About the property

September 2022 update

The Cork Street Apt is Perfect! for your stay in Dublin City, wonderfully located in the heart of The Liberties, a quarter steeped in the original history of Viking and Medieval Dublin.

Ideal for 1 to 2 adults, the apartment is spacious, warm, beautifully appointed, and superbly comfortable. With 2 double bedrooms, we’ve designed in simple but sophisticated lines and comforts, and a charm not always found in general rental options.

Our location is also excellent – it is so easy to do local grocery shopping, or hop in and out of the City Centre by bus, or step back to ‘read the papers’ over a hot coffee on the front balcony overlooking oak trees across the street. Or ponder the interesting Queen Anne period house with its bell-tower & clock just across too – we are indeed lucky to overlook this small, charming Dublin parkland, home to a variety of entertaining and busy chirping birds throughout the year.

With superbly comfortable new Kingbeds, each bedroom is fully prepared prior to your arrival along with a generous supply of fresh towels and bathroom toiletries. Extra linens and duvets are in left in the Store Room for your use. There are 2 full bathrooms: Bedroom #1 is ensuite with walk-in Shower Cabinet, WC & WHB. The Main bathroom located a little further along from Bedroom #2 also offers full WC, WHB and full-size bathtub with Shower overhead. The bedrooms are especially peaceful to sleep in – located at the back of the apartment overlooking a pleasant garden/courtyard. A little further across the sky you can’t miss a wonderful view of the Guinness Storehouse and its famous Rooftop Bars!

Returning to front of the Apartment there is a spacious, bright and very pleasant Sitting Room / Dining Area facing out onto Cork Street below, plus a top view of the small parkland and bird sanctuary across. Here, a full-length double-glazed window system and side door opens onto the small balcony outside.

Just off the Sitting Room is a separate, fully fitted galley Kitchen, kitted out with top mod cons – Neff oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, kettle, toaster, food processor, cooking utensils, delphware, cutlery. We do mean quite Everything! Also here for your use is a full size washing machine with integrated dryer.

A polished walnut floor, dining table seating 4+ guests, 2 sofa systems, coffee table, laptop desk with overhead lamp, a selection of interesting books & board games, 40″ smart TV, hi-speed broadband Wifi & satellite/Cable TV services all complement a comfortable haven for your time in Dublin. Although naturally warm, there are robust Storage Heaters throughout the Apt for when the weather turns chilly, easily turned on when heat is needed.

The Apartment is on the third floor of a small private complex called the Barley House located on the corner junction of Cork Street with Marrowbone Lane. In addition to the stairway, there is an elevator/lift almost to our hall door. There is also private parking available for 1 car – by request when booking please.

Overall, everything is perfect: you have a wonderful command centre at the heart of your Stay in Dublin City and we pay serious attention to the details so that you can settle in firmly to get going with your work and enjoy your time out and about the busy city outside.

The Guinness Storehouse, Teeling Whiskey Distillery, Newmarket Square Markets, Francis Street Antique Shops, St Patrick’s Cathedral, Christ Church Cathedral, Thomas STreet National College of Art, famous Dublin Castle, the Chester Beatty Library  and Trinity College/University- are all just ‘a stones throw away’ from Cork Street. Our location is truly remarkable for a stay in deep, real Dublin City and easy to move about from with a wonderful array of interesting heritage sites and places of great antiquity to delve into in your time here, :).

What Bus# should I catch? –

– For Ballsbridge, Ringsend/Sandymount in ~20 mins, hop onto a #56, also stopping at Grand Canal / Leeson Street along the route.

Purchase a Leap Travel Card in the local Corner Store, they are truly very helpful with information on learning you are new to the system. Keeping this Leap Card topped up means you can hop on / hop off both Dublin City Buses and the Luas Tram Systems, very helpful options around Dubin City & County.

Walking around the Locality –

  • the Guinness Storehouse For Sure – this is just 5-mins walk up along Marrowbone Lane, then turn left onto Robert Street, walk around the high stone walls of the GS complex. You cannot miss the entrance point.

As always in any big city, Watch Out for rascals, rogues, and pickpockets!

Some lovely cafes along the way and then onto Thomas Street, from where you can stroll over to Christ Church cathedral and its plaza, take lunch & a beer in famous Bull &  Castle gastropub, or head into the Kings Head pub just across, one of Dublin’s oldest pubs. All this of bringing you on a really unique and special day out.
  • Bus to College Green/Trinity College, walk over to Nassau Street, locate bus stop for Dun Laoghaire (46a), take this to Dun Laoghaire Central, locate and walk full length of the East Pier – to discover another world – south side Dublin City!

Am I close to a Luas Tram Stop – Yes

Exit onto Marrowbone Lane, cross over, turn left into Maryland Street, turn right at end of this small walk (a clear T-juncton of houses); walk up to end of this street, then turn left walking along until you see the Herberton Comples on your Left Side – look over to see the Herberton Stop of the Luas Tram system (Red Line).

The Luas Tram system is Very Useful for whizzing off – via the James’ Hospital / Thomas Street tram stops – to Heuston Station, one of Dublin’s main Train Station Hubs. Trains from here heading West to Galway, Mayo and Sligo, or South to Cork, Limerick and Dingle/Tralee..

Disembarking at the James’s Hospital Stop permits you cross over to Kilmainham Castle & Grounds, home to the IMMA – Irish Museum of Modern Art.

Stay on the Luas Tram system to travel up and along the River Liffey and its Quays, then to reach Jervis Street / Henry Street / O’Connell Street – ‘huge’ in Dubliners enjoyment of shopping trips & treats. A wonderful browser’s day out over here when work work work calls too much.  After the myriad shops here, make your way to Mary Street and Capel Street to cross over the Halfpenny Bridge to head through Merchant’s Arch into Temple Bar – discoveries galore now on all sides. Location

On all sides from our Cork Street Apartment is an abundance of heritage sites, places of great antiquity, and interesting explorations – literary heroes and poets still casting their magic over the old streets with wonderful or quirky old stories to absorb or look into. In exploring all this, there is an array of quality Restaurants, Cafes, and traditional Irish pubs to drop into along the way. Live music, contemporary Theatre & entertaining Big Shows for the evening time plus a wide selection of museums, old libraries, and art galleries to immerse into.

A marvellous variety of Sporting Events are normally ongoing throughout Dublin City throughout the year:  Rugby, Gaelic football, Hurling, Soccer, Show-jumping, Boxing, Tennis, and Golf – you name it. Something Big is often happening in one of the City Stadiums so it’s useful to run a quick google to lead you to ticket bookings – and we’ll hope, a wonderful evening out in one of these hospitable stadiums.

And Shopping! – shopping, browsing, shopping galore is a must when in Dublin City; everyone loves doing this, the browsing and chit chat in particular is a major social activity! Dublin has an Abundance of busy & excellent shopping streets. On one side of the River Liffey & O’Connell Street are the bustling Jervis Street & Henry Street shopping malls and numerous street-side Retail Outlets. With the same again along famous Grafton Street and its myriad side streets. Small heaven to enjoy all this interaction – a welcome and relaxing break from big-city routines, smog and traffic.

Our Apartment on Cork Street is uniquely positioned and designed for international visitors looking for a smart and efficient home from home while living and working in Dublin City. We maintain close management of the apartment to ensure everything is always working and up to scratch, and once you are settled in are always contactable by a text message.

We also offer superb rental options in Galway City, again, geared to the international community where work and living brings you into Galway City. The West of Ireland is beautiful and very refreshing. We take particular care in offering our Galway Townhouse Apartments and separate private Coach House that you are more than welcomed in – and we greatly cherish that you enjoy Galway from our perfect location on The Crescent.  To see more, select from our Property Links above!
